KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has declared full support and solidarity with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Presidential Council’s stand on defending Sabah’s 40 per cent constitutional entitlement, describing it as a matter of honour and national integrity.
PBS Secretary-General Datuk Julita Majungki said the recent High Court decision affirming Sabah’s right to the 40 per cent special grant under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution reaffirmed what the party had long championed, that these rights are not favours but constitutional entitlements forming the foundation of Malaysia’s federation.
“PBS views this matter not through the lens of political convenience, but as a question of national integrity and constitutional honour,” she said in a statement today.

Julita said the 40 per cent entitlement was part of the sacred understanding that brought Sabah into the Malaysian federation through the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“To honour this commitment is to honour the very spirit of Malaysia itself.”
She said any move to ignore or appeal against the ruling would undermine the trust and goodwill that bind the federation together.
She commended the decisive leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor for promptly directing the State’s relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Finance, the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and the Attorney-General’s Chambers, to study the judgment and prepare for meaningful engagement with the Federal Government.
“This proactive step reflects the GRS government’s unwavering commitment to achieving a fair, lawful and transparent review in accordance with the Federal Constitution,” she said.
Julita also expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his openness and inclusive approach in engaging Sabah and Sarawak.
“We believe the Prime Minister’s leadership presents a golden opportunity to reset the federal-state relationship on a foundation of mutual respect and sincerity,” she said.
“In this spirit, PBS echoes the GRS Council’s call for the Federal Government not to appeal the High Court’s decision, but to embrace it as a moment of unity and reconciliation.”
Julita reaffirmed PBS’s full commitment to the GRS government’s mission of securing all constitutional and MA63 entitlements, stressing that its struggle is driven by conviction, not confrontation.
“Justice for Sabah strengthens, not weakens, Malaysia. When Sabah thrives, Malaysia prospers. When fairness prevails, national unity deepens,” she said.
She added that this moment should mark a turning point where both federal and state governments choose “justice over delay, and partnership over politics.”
“Honouring the 40 per cent entitlement is not an act of generosity…it is the fulfilment of Malaysia’s promise,” said Julita.
“By doing so, the Prime Minister and his administration will etch their names in the hearts of every Sabahan as leaders who delivered fairness, restored dignity, and renewed faith in the Malaysian dream.”
