KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has the capacity to shoulder the responsibility of helping Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) remain strong and dominant following the departure of STAR and SAPP.
PBS Information Chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said PBS is unfazed by the decision of the two parties not to remain with GRS, stressing that PBS has weathered far tougher political challenges.
“This is democracy, but at the same time, stability and unity cannot be overlooked, and that is where PBS continues to play its role,” he said during a meet-the-people programme at Kampung Rungus Panansawa here today.

Joniston inspects the surroundings of the new Balabakan-Singgaron agricultural road together with the villagers.
Joniston, who is also GRS Information Chief and incumbent Kiulu Assemblyman, stressed that PBS’ influence within GRS stems from its consistency, grounded leadership and experience navigating shifting political dynamics.
“We’ve gone through many phases of change, but our principles remain the same, that is to serve with dedication and put the people first.
“PBS has always been a steadying presence in GRS, ensuring that, together, the coalition can meet the expectations of Sabahans,” he added, noting that the party continues to play a key role in keeping GRS cohesive and credible, with policies that are people-centred and realistic.
PBS is one of six component members of GRS with the others being Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), United Sabah National Organisation (USNO), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).
Meanwhile, Joniston also met with the people of Kampung Balabakan, where he officiated the opening of the village’s new agricultural road.
Agriculture is one of the key focuses in Kiulu’s ongoing development plan to improve livelihoods and infrastructure for the communities.
