KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has called on the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) and the private sector to play a key role in shaping Smart City development in the state.
“Looking ahead, Smart City development will be a major focus for Sabah. With two Smart Cities planned in Penampang and Kota Kinabalu, we are entering a new era of urban innovation.

“I encourage SHAREDA and the private sector to take an active role in shaping these Smart Cities — integrating technology, sustainability and community needs to create smarter and more liveable spaces for the future,” he said at SHAREDA’s 47th Anniversary Dinner held at The Magellan Sutera Resort here tonight. His speech was read by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
Hajiji assured that the State Government remains committed to creating a conducive and business-friendly environment that encourages investment and innovation.

“We are streamlining procedures, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring that our policies remain transparent, fair and supportive of investor confidence.
“At the same time, providing adequate housing for our people remains a top priority. We will continue to work closely with the private sector to ensure that affordable and quality homes are accessible to every Sabahan, especially those in the B40 and M40 groups,” he said.

Hajiji also commended SHAREDA for its increasing focus on sustainable and green development, which aligns perfectly with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan.
“This forward-looking approach ensures that the growth we pursue today will not compromise the needs of tomorrow,” he said.
The Chief Minister further lauded SHAREDA’s strong partnership with the State Government and its continued role in advancing Sabah’s development agenda.
“The property sector remains one of the key drivers of Sabah’s economy. It attracts investment, creates employment and enhances the quality of life for our people.
“As we move forward, development must remain balanced and inclusive — promoting opportunities, ensuring sustainability and delivering long-term value for all Sabahans,” he added.
