KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew was among the distinguished guests at the Starry Night Charity Dinner held at the Sabah Hakka Hall here Sunday.
The event, supported by the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry (KePKAS), was organised by LSF Trillion Star Events Sdn Bhd and featured four popular Hong Kong artistes – actors Hugo Wong, 43, and Owen Cheung, 38, as well as actresses Elaine Yiu, 44, and Moon Lau, 36, who was the second runner-up in the 2013 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.
Fans among the 1,100-strong audience erupted in excitement when the celebrities made their grand entrance on stage, delighting guests with several performances, including the finale number Red Sun, a modern Cantonese hit regarded as a Hong Kong classic.
In her speech, Organising Chairperson Datin Elaine Fong Yee Ling thanked all donors, sponsors and supporters who contributed to the event’s success. She presented donations amounting to RM105,000 to five charitable organisations, including Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, Starfish Malaysia Foundation, and the Sabah Society for the Deaf.
The evening also featured vibrant local performances such as the Magunatip, a traditional Murut bamboo dance and a 24 Festival Drums showcase. Guests were further entertained with interactive games involving the celebrities and a series of lucky draws.
Among the notable attendees were KePKAS Permanent Secretary Datuk Josie Lai, Sabah Tourism Board Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tay Shu Lan (representing CEO Julinus Jeffery Jimit), Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President Tan Sri T C Goh and prominent community leaders Tan Sri Paul Lim, Datuk Clement Yeh and Datuk Li Su Fook.
