KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor urged the people to continue to appreciate the significance of Malaysia Day and celebrate it with a deep sense of patriotism and love for the country.
“Let us ensure unity and harmony among the people of various races and religion and ensure this will continue to be observed,” he said in his Malaysia Day message here.
Hajiji said September 16 is a significant date, which is the day Malaysia was formed.
“As Malaysians, we are very proud and must always remember this historic day because it marks the moment our nation became sovereign and independent.
“The formation of Malaysia has brought blessings and benefits to all levels of society in this country. However, the journey of nation-building is still long, filled with challenges and obstacles.
“Only through unity, solidarity and togetherness in the interest of our homeland can these challenges be overcome,” he said.
To this end, the Chief Minister called upon all Malaysians to embrace this year’s Malaysia Day theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni”, which reflects the Government’s commitment to the people’s welfare based on the principles of Malaysia MADANI.
It is also in line with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan that emphasised on the wellbeing of the people, justice, unity and equitable development for all segments of society.
