KOTA KINABALU: The Chief Minister of Sabah and the State Government have categorically denied any liability for misfeasance in public office following a lawsuit filed by Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (In Liquidation) and its Receiver and Manager.
In an official statement issued today, Sabah Attorney-Gemeral Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh confirmed that the Sabah Government has received a Writ of Summons on March 17, 2025, from the law firm Chin Jingulam & Associates, representing the Plaintiffs.
The Government has filed its Memorandum of Appearance today and intends to mount a robust defense against the claims.
“For the record, the Chief Minister of Sabah and the State Government unequivocally deny all allegations of misfeasance in public office made by the Plaintiffs,” he said.
The Government emphasised its commitment to protecting its reputation and the integrity of its decisions.
“”We take these contentions seriously but firmly assert that these claims are not only frivolous and vexatious but are also baseless given the ongoing and pre-existing litigation between the parties.
“We will vigorously resist these claims and hereby confirm our instructions to file a
comprehensive defence. Therefore, we will not allow these unfounded allegations to
proceed unchallenged.
“We remain fully committed to protecting the reputation of the Chief Minister, the State Government, and the integrity of the decisions taken thus far,” he said.
“The matter will be fully ventilated before the court, and we trust that the right decision will prevail in due course,” he added.
