KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew represented Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor at the 5th Malaysia Foochow Association Spring Festival Celebration held at the Magellan Sutera Hotel here last night.
More than 1,000 members and guests attended the event co-hosted by the Federation of Foochow Associations Malaysia led by Dato’ Dong Sech Sing, and Kota Kinabalu Foochow Association headed by Simon Ting Ching Sing.
The special guests were President of the World Federation of Fuzhou Associations Ng Woon Yin from Hong Kong, and Deputy President Dato’ Sri Lau Wei Kiong from Malaysia.
In the Chief Minister’s address read by Liew, Hajiji said the year 2025 marks the end of the term for the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 Development Plan (SMJ 1.0) for the 2021-2025 period.
“If given the mandate again, we will continue with the Hala Tuju SMJ 2.0 from 2026-2030. Therefore, we need the support of the people as a whole, including the Chinese community in the state,” he added.
