KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) has expressed steadfast support for the Sabah Government and its people during these challenging times, reaffirming its dedication to fostering a prosperous, inclusive and stable future for the state.
“We reiterate our commitment to advancing Sabah’s progress through political stability and economic resilience,” said Datuk Sr Chua Soon Ping, President of SHAREDA.
He said the association emphasised that political stability is fundamental to Sabah’s economic growth and development.
“Any disruptions to governance or public confidence could weaken Sabah’s position as a rising economic hub.”
Inspired by the Premier of Sarawak’s recent address at the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) dinner, SHAREDA highlighted transformative initiatives in Sarawak that Sabah could adopt to drive progress.
Key strategies include:
- Expanding renewable energy infrastructure, particularly hydroelectric power, to provide clean and affordable electricity that attracts foreign investment.
- Leveraging state assets and resources, such as acquisitions of financial and logistics services like Affin Bank and MASwings, to support business operations and SMEs.
- Investing in human capital, exemplified by funding free education at state universities to enhance workforce quality and sustain long-term economic growth.
“These efforts demonstrate how political stability and strategic governance create an environment conducive to business and development,” said Chua.
“For example, renewable energy initiatives, like hydro-powered electricity, offer clean and cost-effective energy while drawing significant foreign investments. Sabah could replicate such models to ensure sustainable growth,” he added.
SHAREDA urged Sabah’s political leaders and stakeholders to embrace proven governance and development strategies.
By fostering political stability and aligning with successful regional approaches, Chua said Sabah can attract global investors and build a robust, diversified economy.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with the State Government, businesses and community leaders to advance housing, urban development and economic diversification initiatives.
“Together, we can ensure Sabah’s path toward sustainability, stability and prosperity for the benefit of its people,” said Chua.
