KOTA KINABALU: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and Shangri-La Tanjung Aru signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru here recently.
The MoU was signed by UCSF Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr Rafiq Idris and Shangri-La Tanjung Aru General Manager Conor Hadlington. Yayasan Sabah Corporate Secretary Hanafiah Diman and Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (ICSB) COO Douglas Joinol were also present.
Hadlington emphasised the significance of the MoU, saying the collaboration marks a crucial step toward strengthening ties between academia and the hospitality industry.
“We are proud to formalise this relationship through the signing of this MoU. This partnership will create opportunities for training, internships and career advancement, benefiting not only UCSF and Shangri-La Tanjung Aru but also the broader tourism and hospitality sector in Sabah.”
Dr Rafiq said the MoU establishes a framework for cooperation that is mutually beneficial for both parties.
He highlighted the organisations’ commitment to collaboration in various areas, including providing internship placements for UCSF students and engaging in educational initiatives.
“This partnership has the potential to cultivate skilled professionals ready to lead in global ecotourism ventures,” he said.
Dr Rafiq expressed confidence that the MoU will enhance collaboration and generate benefits for UCSF, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru and various stakeholders across Sabah.
