PENAMPANG: The KDCA Koisaan Cultural Village (KCV) here will host the Cultural Village Festival 2024 on Dec 4, from 9am to 9 pm.
The dynamic event celebrating Sabah’s rich cultural heritage and forward-looking vision will be officiated by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew as the guest of honour.
The festival aims to preserve and promote Sabah’s cultural traditions while fostering innovation to ensure their relevance for future generations.
It also seeks to strengthen cultural tourism, unite communities, and spark dialogue about the importance of heritage in modern society.
Visitors can expect a blend of traditional and contemporary attractions, including:
* Traditional Food and Crafts: Experience authentic Sabahan delicacies and intricate arts and crafts.
* Cultural Performances: Enjoy captivating traditional music and dances.
* Children’s Colouring Competition: A creative platform for young participants.
* Meet & Greet: Interact with prominent figures such as the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2024 winners, Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan 2024 winners, Miss World Malaysia 2023 Saroop Roshi, and the newly crowned Miss World Malaysia 2024.
Miss World Malaysia will bring its impactful mission to the festival, led by franchise owner Dr. Sean Wong. The 2023 titleholder, Miss Saroop Roshi, and the newly crowned 2024 winner will participate in initiatives supporting disadvantaged families. Pending availability, Mrs. Julia Morley CBE, Chairman of the Miss World Organization, and reigning Miss World 2024, Miss Krystyna Pyszkova, are expected to join the event.
Miss Saroop Roshi will also launch her new children’s book, Let’s Unmask Our Minds with Ronnie the Horse, during the meet-and-greet session, furthering the organisation’s commitment to education and emotional intelligence among youth.
Two forums will delve into Sabah’s cultural legacy and innovation:
1. Innovation in Tradition and Culture: Exploring the adaptation of heritage to modern times through technology, youth engagement, and creative expression.
2. Cultural Leadership for Future Generations: Highlighting mentorship, the legacy of the Bobohizan, and the role of education in passing down traditions.
Additional Activities are Blood Donation Drive: Contribute to a life-saving cause; Lucky Draw: Stand a chance to win cash prizes from a RM5,000 pool; and Evening Festivities: Explore the traditional houses at Koisaan Cultural Village and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Hongkod Avenue until 9 pm.
The event is organised by the Koisaan Cultural Village and KDCA Youth Council with support from the Sabah Tourism, Culture, and Environment Ministry, Sabah Tourism Board, Tourism Malaysia Sabah, KDCA Women’s Council, National Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2024, and the Miss World Malaysia Organisation. Collaboration partners include St. John Ambulans Negeri Sabah and Kelab Komuniti Sayang Sabah.
The Koisaan Cultural Village Festival 2024 invites everyone to experience Sabah’s cultural pride and innovation. With delicious food, vibrant performances, inspiring initiatives, and engaging meet-and-greet sessions, there’s something for everyone.
