Also present were Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister and Sabah Tourism Board (STB) Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai (third right), Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK Dato’ Zakri Jaafar (second left), the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Josie Lai (left), and STB Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit (second right).
Liew commended 1Stop Borneo Wildlife for its initiative in producing the first such digital travel guide on Borneo Nature authored by wildlife conservationist Shavez Cheema (right) and writers with emphasis on reforestation, wildlife, tourism and useful travel tips.
“It is comprehensive and serves as a perfect guide for visitors coming to Borneo to see our wildlife or to dive as the book contains information on the best spots to view wildlife and the best spots for diving. Since it is digital in nature, the content can be updated from time to time,” she said.
In his presentation, Cheema, who founded Tawau-based 1Stop Borneo Wildlife, said he and his team spent almost 10 years conducting research, taking photos, writing articles, editing and designing in compiling the travel guide.
“For the past two and a half years, we have been to more than 180 destinations covering Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan, Labuan and Brunei Darussalam,” he said, adding there are video animations on how to travel properly to the nature parks/islands without wasting time.
