KOTA KINABALU: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Halu Oleo (UHO) in Kendari, Sulawesi, in a ceremony held at its main campus in Sembulan here.
The MoU focuses on enhancing student exchange programmes, visiting scholar initiatives, research collaborations and various forms of academic partnerships.
The signing was attended by Datuk Dr Mohd Yaakub bin Haji Johari and other members of the Board of Governors and Directors of Uni YS Sdn Bhd, highlighting a strengthened commitment to building ties between universities in Sabah and Sulawesi. Both regions are parts of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
The 6th International Mobility Seminar, titled “Bridging Cultures and Economies: Global Mobility for Sustainable Business Growth,” was also held after the signing.
This seminar was co-organised by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), UCSF and UHO.
UCSF Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr Rafiq Idris said UCSF is looking forward to an increased academic partnership with UHO, one of Sulawesi’s largest universities with over 40,000 students.
