KOTA KINABALU: The much-anticipated 2024 Chinese New Year Segama Bazaar is set to take place at Segama here on Feb 8, 2024, from 1 pm to 12 am.
It will be launched by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina together with Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah.
Organised by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) in collaboration with the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry through the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), the event promises a spectacular celebration of cultural richness and diversity.
Liew, who has thrown her wholehearted support to this event, expressed her enthusiasm saying the Chinese New Year is a significant celebration for all Sabahans, transcending race and religion.
The collaborative efforts between DBKK and the Ministry, coupled with the support provided, will undoubtedly enhance the promotion of the event, making it a captivating attraction for both locals and foreign tourists.
“We aim to showcase the beauty of the Chinese New Year celebration uniquely in the vibrant Sabah,” she said.
Visitors are cordially invited to join the festivities at Segama Mega Bazaar organised by DBKK, where a multitude of activities and performances await.
A staggering total of 350 stalls will line the Segama Road, transforming it into the largest bazaar of the year.
The event will also feature mesmerising lion and dragon dances, a diabolo performance, captivating singing and dancing, a thrilling lucky draw and much more.
The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the Discover Sabah Digital 2024 initiative, a strategic plan to elevate Sabah tourism to new heights through a digital approach.
This initiative follows the success of Dec-Cover Sabah 2023. Additionally, the certificate presentation for the completion and success of the Sabah Foodie Tour Dec-Cover Sabah 2023, which covered 22 districts’ Sabah Food Tourism Destinations by Biao Ge Leo in 39 days, will be featured in the programme.
The tour has received recognition and endorsement from the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry.
This celebration promises to be a joyous occasion, embracing the rich cultural tapestry of Sabah while highlighting the Chinese culture.
The celebration will be brought to life through a live stream on Kita Connect and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu’s Facebook Page.
This initiative seeks to share the momentous celebration not only with the people of Sabah but also with all Malaysians and tourists worldwide.
