KOTA KINABALU: The Chinese New Year Dragon, Unicorn and Lion Dance Festival held here yesterday has also attracted tourists from China, the Middle East and Europe.
“I am pleased to note that the festival has attracted tourists from Beijing, China, the Middle East and Europe, apart from domestic tourists,” said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
She said this when officiating at the dancing competition organised by the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

A performance by the BeFox Crew.
Liew commended the USCCAKK led by Datuk Susan Wong for taking the initiative to include the dancing competition as an added activity of the Chinese New Year Dragon, Unicorn and Lion Dance Festival.
Meanwhile, Wong expressed the hope that the Chinese New Year’s Dragon, Unicorn and Lion Dance Festival would draw more international tourists in future.
BeFox Crew, with their dance theme “Gravity”, beat 19 other participating teams to bag the first prize of RM3000 in the dancing competition.
