KOTA KINABALU: The race is on for 164 hopefuls vying for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Women and Youth, as well as Supreme Council posts this week.
“Of the figure, 71 are new faces,” said PBS Information Chief, Datuk Julita Majungki.
She explained that 11 news faces are joining the race with 49 seniors for the Women’s wing, 21 freshies from 40 candidates for the Youth wing, while 39 newbies are competing with 25 others for a spot at the Supreme Council.
“We recorded the highest number of new faces competing in this year’s election during the 36th and 37th Annual Delegates Congress which is scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Hakka Hall. The joint Women and Youth Delegates Congress will be held between June 28 and 29, while the Supreme Council in on June 30 and July 1,” she said.
PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, who returned unopposed, will deliver his policy speech on June 30, while Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is expected to launch the delegates’ congress on July 1 at 10am.
