KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) has launched a flat neighbourhood community service programme by providing wheelchairs to facilitate the movement of people with disabilities, especially during emergencies.
STAR Vice-President, Dr Paul Porodong said for a start, the community service was launched at two PPR housing in Putatan namely Taman Sri Keramat and Serigai.
“The use of this facility is handled by the Head of the Block Unit where each block is allocated a wheelchair,” he said, who is also STAR’s Strategic Director.
In addition, a total of four OKU residents also received a wheelchair each in conjunction with the launch of the programme yesterday.
Organizing Chairperson, Shiela Fae Among said STAR Putatan Parliament will continue to be committed to performing community service by making the community the backbone and heart of the struggle.
She is confident that the programme will be further expanded through the active involvement of youth bodies such as Team Power Sedekah Sabah Charity Organisation and Taman Sri Keramat PPR Youth Club.
She explained the programme is run entirely by youths who have been actively involved in charity work to serve the community and the state.
