Christel in her father’s arm
KOTA KINABALU: An infant, Christel Ettel, from Tambunan, has successfully undergone a corrective surgery, thanks to Society for The Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF).
SOSHF President, Datuk Eva Susau together with its Vice President, Haji Ghani Fadzil welcomed Christel home at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) here at 4pm Friday (Oct 22).
The nearly two-month-old Christel flew to Kuala Lumpur with her mother, Flora Muil on October 15, 2021 by Malaysia Airlines.
They were from Kampung Makatip, Tambunan. The father, Christianus Saimon works as a security guard. Christel is the youngest among 8 children in her family.
Eva said Christel is SOSHF’s 698th patient since its establishment in 1981.

She also announced that this year the SOSHF will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary and the society hopes to send 3 or more young patients to break the number 700.
“Although the SOSHF may not be able to have a physical fundraising dinner event to mark our 40th Anniversary, we will do a virtual live streaming celebration cum fund raising through Facebook and multimedia through direct bank-in into our CIMB Bank account. The date will be announced soon.
“Four decades of caring, a time to celebrate and to appreciate and give thanks to God and to all who have made the SOSHF to where it is today in saving so many lives!” she said.
To mark the occasion, SOSHF will be inviting friends of the society and public to donate generously during this special occasion and to place an advertisement in our 40thAnniversary commemorative magazine to mark the occasion.
“We hope to raise RM150,000 for 3 more patients as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary, totaling to 14 we sent this year. Any excess will be carried forward to the pool to send more patients next year,” she said.
All donations to SOSHF will be tax exempted.
SOSHF also hope their ex-patients could call the society or WhatsApp to 0198801270 so that they can be connected again as many of them have lost contact with the society due to change of locations and information not updated.
For those who wish to be part of SOSHF in this journey, please feel free to bank into its CIMB account number 8005716221 or text SOSHF.
