PITAS: Sabah Housing dan Town Development Authority (LPPB) will develop a commersial cum housing project in the district that will change its economic landscape.
LPPB Chairman, Datuk Masiung Banah, said the strategic project are currently in the design process and will be implemented this year.
He said, 49 acres has been gazetted for the proposed project which would be developed in two separate locations, adding the two project would be implemented by LPPB in a joint venture with two local companies.
“The entire project would cost RM236.9 million, including the cost of constructing a multi-purpose building worth RM28.7 million located opposite the Petronas station here,” he said during his visit to the proposed sites on Monday.
Masiung said 356 units of affordable housing of different designs, including 74 unit of single-storey commercial buildings (showroom) will be built on LPPB’s 37.6 acre in Kampung Taka here.
LPPB also provided another 11.4 acres for the development of 54 unit of two-storey shophouses and 14 unit of two-storey commersial building (showroom), he added.
Masiung said of the total 356 house units built, locals will have the opportunity to own a house where 306 units of affordable terrace houses will be built at a price between RM198,000 and RM295,000.
There are also 50 unit of semi-detached houses offered with prices ranging from RM355,000 to RM390,000.
Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor, is expecred to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the project soon.
