PENAMPANG: The winner of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2021, Miss Maya Hejnowska, Sabah State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Datuk George Ginibun and Unduk Ngadau Borderless Kaamatan Organising Committee Chairperson Joanna Kitingan paid a visit to Rotary Club of Penampang (RCP) and Persatuan Penggerak Penampang Sabah (PPPS) joint communal work last Saturday.
The joint communal work by RCP and PPPS was to cook lunch for the 70 frontliners in the Vaccine Administration Centre (PPV) Dewan Kebudayaan Sabah here.
The collaboration that started from June 14, 2021, was originally a 14 days joint effort by both NGOs and has since been extended for 3 more days until June 30, 2021.
RCP President Boniface Mosios said that he was delighted to see the joint initiative by both NGOs getting recognition.
He was ever so proud to have people as famous as Maya, George and also Joanna to come visit the site where the NGOs were preparing the food. He welcomed any other interested parties to come and have a visit anytime.
Maya’s presence at the cooking site was a welcomed surprise for volunteers from both NGOs and every single one of them was eager to take a picture with her.

After a tour of the site, Maya was briefed about the purpose of the joint communal work and the concern about the low rate of Covid-19 vaccination registration from the community. She shared both NGOs concern and she urged everyone no matter where they are, to go for the Covid-19 vaccination by registering in the Mysejahtera app.
George who happens to be the founder of RCP and has contributed a lot to the joint communal work agreed with Maya sentiments and said that everyone should follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set up by the Government and if possible, to stay at home.
He beseeched everyone not to believe the bad rumours about the covid-19 vaccination that were viral in the social media.
Joanna meanwhile revealed that she has already completed her two-dose vaccination and she urged everyone get the Covid-19 vaccine.
She said that it was important to get the vaccination so that everyone could go back to their normal life and hoped that everyone take care of themselves and be ever so vigilant of their cleanliness and surroundings.
PPPS President Allan Zac Gerald thanked Maya, George and Joanna for the visit and hoped that the statements given by the trio would be well received by the public and they would not hesitate to get the Covid-19 vaccination.
Only by doing so that the numbers of registration for the vaccination amongst the community would steadily increase, he said.
Boni gives his utmost gratitute to all those that have come to visit and his acknowledgement to George, Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat (UPPM) Chief Joe Suleiman, Madam Patricia Mosinoh, RCP members and friends for all the generous contributions to the joint communal work.
