SIPITANG: The Army’s Jiwa Murni Combat Medic Vaccination programme (ACMVP) kicked off at Long Pasia here today with 500 villagers from here and nearby villages expected to be vaccinated over two days.
This is the Army’s first for Sabah jointly held with the government’s mobile outreach, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and village youth volunteers.
Tongod, Nabawan and Semporna districts will be Jiwa Murni’s next destinations from July. August and September, 2021 respectively.
Praising the Army for this initiative, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor hoped more such efforts will be implemented in other districts to speed up the vaccination process.
Hajiji said as of 23 June, more than 350,000 people have been vaccinated including about 10,000 army personnel, adding that more than 30 percent of the people have registered for vaccination.
“We hope to see our target of 30,000 people vaccinated daily from July, 2021 when more vaccines become available,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, at a development briefing by Sipitang District Officer, Ag Raimy Pg Abdul Rahman, the Chief Minister announced RM570,000 allocation for two suspension bridges, church, army post and school upgrades.
Sipitang Member Parliament, Yamani Hafez Musa; Sabah Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister, Shahelmy Yahya, State Secretary, Datuk Seri Safar Untong, Sabah Federal Secretary, Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohammad, and Fifth Infantry Division Chief, Major General Datuk Mohd Halim Khalid, were also present.
